Re: TV Thread

Hah. Is that a thing? I guess I can see him being a prude about throwing around praise. There was a panel at comic-con in the lead up to AVATAR where he did a panel with Peter Jackson and someone asked what inspired him, he gave a typical reply of "I'm James Cameron... I inspire everyone else!!" be...

Re: TV Thread

I've been watching For All Mankind it's on Apple's streaming service. It's created by Battlestar / Deep Space Nine's Ron Moore and looks at an alternate timeline where the Russians land on the moon before America and how that changes the space race. The fact it plays like HBO's From Earth To The Moo...

Re: Sci-Fi novel recommendations

So it's been awhile since I updated this thread, here's a couple of the sci-fi novels that stood out from my pile in the last year. The Fountains of Paradise – Arthur C Clarke this is the single best book that I have ever read about a lift. The first of Clarke's novels that I read was "childhood's e...

Re: ITT: We talk about The Rise of Skywalker

I didn't hate "Rise Of Skywalker" as a movie it began, middle and ended better than some of the prequels. You will note that I say some of the prequels which is already pretty damning. I should mention that I have only seen the film the once and with the previous few films my opinion shifted after a...

Re: One Shots (or numbers)

Smoking in films is cool.

fuck all the idiots who thought that meant they should do it outside of film and now we can only have it in film if it's set before 1990.

Outlining a script

I like writing, well that isn’t quite true but I do like having written. I’m a pretty good, or at least a pretty fast writer, assuming I have an outline to work from. This is where it all breaks down for me unfortunately, Breaking a story is like pulling teeth, except having had a tooth pulled it wa...

https://www.edgehill.ac.uk/events/files/2018/12/Stan-and-Ollie-1.jpg I really enjoyed Stand and Ollie, I don’t know much about Laurel and Hardy outside of seeing their films on afternoon telly when I was very, very young but the story of the double act that’s been through it’s ups and downs really ...

Now that that job has finished I have spent the last month travelling between Bri...

I definitely intend to shoot another short film this year, even if it is just another one of me and Stu running around and adding explosions in after.
