Re: Sci-Fi novel recommendations

I liked the book! I also liked his follow up "Armada" which seems to be a much less popular opinion. Currently, I'm down a well of Star Trek novels. (shut up!) Over the last ten years or so, they are doing a comics thing where everything is split into different ongoing series with the occasional cro...

Re: The "I just watched a movie" thread

I've not seen any of the Plane Of The Apes films since that god awful James Franco one that everyone liked.

I love the original Charleton Heston film and to be honest every time they try and add something to it, it just takes something away.

Re: The "I just watched a movie" thread

Watched Wonder Woman, it was fine, don't quite get why people were acting like it was something new. Gadot and Pine are good and whilst the WWI setting was slightly different it was pretty much by the numbers.

That's a real pain, still it will be worth it when it's done.

Heh, only one episode was ever shot in Washington.
The English accents are all terrible. Starting with Daphne, I don't think Janes Leeves is even allowed North of Birmingham anymore.

(translation: Daphne is right posh and only pretends to be from Manchester)

Re: The "I just watched a movie" thread

Yesterday we watched the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. "Salazar's Revenge" or as it is known in the colonies "Dead Men Tell No Tales" (Why have studios taken to renaming films for different territories? When the original "Curse Of The Black Pearl" came out I was 18 and in a proper film snob ...

I recently discovered that paying people doesn't actually solve all your problems, instead of people not being able to commit because of other responsibilities you can end up with people just showing up for the paycheck.

Re: TEAM 3 - Faldor / Lance / Owen W. / (Fig)

I managed to build myself a tripod mountable slider dolly so I can get some smooth camera movement out in the woods so looking forward to putting that to use. If it's not completely stable you might want to take some alternate takes with a high frame rate of around 1/150 which will give you less mo...

Re: ITT: Faldor Quits The Day Job

Hope everything goes well for you. And congrats. Something I'm looking at myself. Well, it turns out everything is really difficult. I've had one client commissioned me for a job and then tell me they don't actually have the money but they will totally pay me when they do. I had another client book...

Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

I was never able to get into "Sense8" - hell, didn't even know the second season was in production. You must work in the only office that doesn't discuss netflix shows around the water cooler. (I've never worked in an office, that's a thing, right?) Preacher is a very odd take on the comic, certain...

Re: The "I just watched a movie" thread

I watched 'Their Finest' yesterday. It is set in 1940 and follows Gemma Arterton as a young writer brought in to work for the Ministry Of Information to write a propaganda film about the evacuation of Dunkirk. It's a nice character piece with a great role for Bill Nighy.

Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

I got quite far into the first season of 'Sense8' but didn't finish it because it got rather repetitive as all eight characters learned the same powers. Maybe I'll try picking it up again. I've been absolutely blown away by the first two episodes of 'American Gods'. I read the book about ten years b...

Re: The Hell With This Podcast #22 - Last Action Hero

I watched this a couple of years ago, it was better than the reception it got at the time. In my head, I always confuse the title with 'Jingle All The Way'

in not unrelated news, I watched 'The Formula' on the flight back from France yesterday. top film.
