Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

You gotta give it a minute. It's a slow starter.

Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

Altered Carbon is fantastic. A definite must-watch. I really like Joel Kinnaman in this, begrudgingly, since I hated him for starring in that shitty Robocop remake years ago, but he has earned my trust and respect with several roles lately. His turn in House of Cards was great, and Altered Carbon ha...

Re: ITT Chad Probably Builds A PC

Sounds like it might be time to switch over to Davinci Resolve while you're at it. Change is good. :)

Re: ITT Chad Probably Builds A PC

I've built several PCs in my day, although not recently. I've been rocking the same laptop for many years now.

My only real screwup was bricking a $1000 dollar CPU once though. That was a bummer. I stared at it in disbelief for days before I finally had to admit it. It was a dark time.

Re: Obligatory "The Last Jedi" Thread...

SPOILERS... . . . . “I pretty much fundamentally disagree with every choice you've made for this character.” Yeah, I agree with Mark Hamill. That sums up the entire movie nicely. ***SPOILERRRRRRRRRRRRZZ** - - - - - - Here are some alternate titles I came up with on the drive home. Star Wars: Episod...

Re: Obligatory "The Last Jedi" Thread...

Had a whole BUNCH of friends at the premiere last week, but none of them will give up the goods. Apparently the movie is pretty good.

I don't have tix yet, but hoping I can sneak in a showing next Sunday night or something.

Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

Bummer about Star Trek. Is it really that awful? Yes. It's a generic Star Trek reboot with horrific writing and wooden characters and actors that know they're on a bad TV show and behave accordingly. At 8mil per episode, I would expect better. At the very least, I would expect some kind of continui...

Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

RIP House of Cards. Thanks a lot Kevin. Also, it wasn't much of a secret anyway... RIP Dark Matter. Of course you had to get cancelled on a cliffhanger. Now we will never truly know. RIP Star Trek Discovery. I know you haven't been cancelled, but you suck and you should be cancelled. RIP Star Wars R...

Re: ITT: We cheat on NP2k

It didn't used to be that way. Redford has publicly stated in the past that he's sad about the commercialization of Sundance. It is a very much "who you know" festival now. It has turned into a popularity celebrity circus, and that sucks. Having said that, there are still opportunities for broke-ass...

Re: ITT: We cheat on NP2k

I'm down. I'm always up to plan for something we'll all ultimately flake on two years from now. Indeed this. But the excitement is in the anticipation. Tell you what. Come January of every year, I will be in a bar in Park City during Sundance having a drink. Any and all of you are welcome to join me.

The fact that all this started 18 years ago makes me sick.
Still think we need to plan a 20-year blowout/shindig/meetup/party/something.

Re: ITT: We cheat on NP2k

I check this forum about once a day or so. Sometimes I post something, most times I don't. Other than that, nada. I do a lot of Facebooking though, although I don't post so much as just read other people's stuff. I don't do the Twitter at all. TF.N is still a thing? I thought it ended years ago. I s...

Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

For example, it basically had nothing to do with Star Trek. I loved every minute of it. It felt way more Trek than all of Voyager and most of Enterprise (and I liked Enterprise) They were never going to make a series with the aesthetic of the sixties show and changing up the look and style has been...

Re: TV: What are you currently watching?

Watched the new Star Trek. Pretty much hated it. For example, it basically had nothing to do with Star Trek. Also, continuity be damned. I know the producers said that they were "fans" and that it would be "faithful" to the original timeline, but that was an utter bullshit lie to get people to watch...

Re: Sci-Fi novel recommendations

Just thinning out The Library and a couple of suggestions jumped out at me: Michael Crichton's "The Andromeda Strain" and "Congo." And please, let's not bring up those embarrassments of film production. Both fine choices. Congo is interesting, because the movie is basically nothing much like the bo...

Re: The "I just watched a movie" thread

Ah shit, I was really hyped for this. How does it rate next to The Fifth Element ? If 5th Element is an 8 out of 10, Valerian is a 4. There's really nothing memorable about it. 5th Element had Bruce and Milla, but Valerian doesn't have anything close to that in Dane and Cara. Visually, it's pretty ...

Re: The "I just watched a movie" thread

Caught Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets so the rest of you don't have to. Trust me on this. Hmmm... Damn. (will probably walk into the fire anyway, because I'm a lemming) Here's the thing: The movie sucks big time. The plot is incoherent, the two leads have no chemistry, and they try to ...
