Working on stuff.

Been getting a personal portfolio website together complete with a blog that I'll eventually lose interest in keeping up, probably.

Tinkering with the short film, I created an NP2K studios title splash along with my Snarky Lark Production title splash. The video editing is as done as it can be using storyboards to hold space for needed footage. Now I'm working the audio and trying to get music together since it will be a good portion of the effect and keep the pace of the film cohesive.

I've also had just about every strain of cold, flu, and general malaise that's been going around. Been sick for nearly two months straight now. Might be getting over it but I've said that more than a few times since this all began.

Dude. Awesome! Can't wait to see it. Pretty sure if you finish that film, that'll mean we've at least had one completed film per festival (I think?), which is... still awesome, regardless of how lazy the rest of us are. I think champagne will be in order, at the screening party. Speaking of which, where's our invites to the party? Oh, and where is it?

Urm...TBD?
Let's hope for a summer blockbuster but expect a Christmas release.

I was actually thinking of rendering it out as it stands, burning a dvd, and sending it to you. Half just to show someone empirical proof of concept, and half just to feel like I did something to keep up forward momentum. So, if you get a strange package in the mail...

Whether you watch it at this point or wait, totally your call... (maybe just watch the first few minutes.)

I have some vague recollection of Chad and mailing DVDs but I can't quite place it ;)

Heh, I'm encoding what I have of the short into mpeg2 right now, then I can burn it to DVD in encore. I think.

Hey, so, did you know that Premiere pro converts PCM audio to a WAVE file that Encore doesn't like so you need to tick the Dolby Digital option so it'll create an AC3 file? I did not know that. Now I do. Re-encoding...

haha, yeah... I had to export ac3 for the Apocalypse dvd, since it was a 5.1 mix. That, and PCM is huge and needs to be squished down, in general.

I used to love creating DVDs about 15 yrs ago. I was always gutted I never managed to finish a big enough project to do a run of something. I used to put together short film collections and would put in a flying head if you left the menu playing for more than 30 seconds.

Of course, the ballache was then playing everything back on a standalone player to make sure everything worked. Then you always had the one idiot that only had a games console that refused to play any DVD-r's.

I mean streaming HD for free is pretty good too...

Yeah, my free Vimeo account will only let me upload 500mb a week and the .mp4 file is at 755mb. I don't plan on upgrading until I have more to put up. Otherwise I could just upload and slap a password on it like before.

As with everything in this whole endeavor, I've never used Encore to author a DVD so It took a minute to figure everything out, but I did it. Complete with menu, chapter sub menu, and a gag reel I slapped together on the fly. Tested and working as intended. Can't say I like it down rezing from 1080p to 720p but it still looks okay; I guess. Sure do notice the flaws watching it on a 55" plasma that barely show on a 22" HD monitor.

I'll try to get it in the post on the morrow.

I loved making fancy DVDs with DVD Studio Pro, which I guess I won't be doing much of seeing as Apple killed it and never made a replacement.

I don't know how to make a fancy Blu-Ray with custom menus and such. I don't know if you can even buy a program that does such a thing.

Encore cs6 does Blu-ray, I don't have a blu-ray burner though. If you do the Adobe subscription services I hear you can download Encore cs6 for free from Adobe.

Adam described the exact place where I'm at with DVD & blu-ray menus. It appears our knowledge of said stuff begins and ends with DVD Studio Pro. God damn you, Apple.

And then Lance opened up all our eyes to the light of Adobe. Ah, Adobe... I love you so.

Nice, looking forward to it (assuming it's being sent here). My 49" 4k TV should help clarify the errors even further! bwahahah... ;)

Btw, I should probably just send you my vimeo pro login info so that you can just post porn all over my profile... and upload larger files.

What about a wetransfer? Maybe send it to my chadpeter at hotmail address and I'll upload a private link for you.

I was assuming the address on the package that the Apocalypse CA DVDs came in was current. I haven't sent it yet, missed my Friday window and this weekend being extended with Presidents day and all, tomorrow is my next opportunity.

I'll get back to you on the file transfer stuff, I'd look into it now but I'm dozing off as I type this...

Chad, I think I sent you a P.M. but it's not showing up in my sent folder so you will either get a crap-ton of duplicate messages or nothing.
