Lockpicking in Real Life versus on the Screen

Video on...you guessed it. Taken during one of the hacker conferences, a panel and audience briefly dissect many lockpicking scenes as shown on both film and TV - mostly what was done wrong, a few things that were done right, and a few cool techniques for prop masters and DPs. At 55 minutes length it's about 25 mins too long, but good for those who are sticklers for accurate detail in their writing and shooting.

Fun fact: for T2, Linda Hamilton actually learned how to escape restraints and pick locks and was actually doing it during filming...so when there's a misstep and she looks likes she's getting frustrated, it's because she's really trying to do it and getting frustrated.

I do appreciate it when filmmakers get the tidbits right. The general population could give a rat's ass unless it's a glaring oversight of common knowledge, but I think it adds a layer of integrity to anything if it's researched at least to the point of plausibility.
