TV: What are you currently watching?

For example, it basically had nothing to do with Star Trek.
I loved every minute of it. It felt way more Trek than all of Voyager and most of Enterprise (and I liked Enterprise) They were never going to make a series with the aesthetic of the sixties show and changing up the look and style has been consistent with every new Trek from the original through Next Gen.
I didn't think it felt like Trek at all. The whole vibe... the whole aesthetic of it was very un-trek like. It was slow, ponderous, badly written, and there was no chemistry of any kind among the cast. The "Klingons" had to read dialog through a mouth full of marbles in a weird version of Klingon that I'm almost sure isn't even right, and the show didn't even portray them properly. And don't get me started on the lead actress and her... whatever it was she was doing. I don't think I've ever seen a worse-written character in television.

Abysmal.

Finally finished GOT season 6!
Glad there were at least two or three things that weren't totally spoiled for me.

On to season 7!

Godspeed!

Meanwhile, I'm getting caught up on Mr. Robot s2 (and s3, as it's spoiled for me at work), The Americans s4(?). Looking forward to my cheeseball show, The Shannara Chronicles s2, and doing a complete rewatch of Friday Night Lights with Orladh. I'm sure there's something in there I'm missing, but there ain't enough time to watch anything these days.

Say what you will about what came after but ENTERPRISE has a really strong pilot. I've also always had a soft spot for The Cage.

RIP House of Cards. Thanks a lot Kevin. Also, it wasn't much of a secret anyway...

RIP Dark Matter. Of course you had to get cancelled on a cliffhanger. Now we will never truly know.

RIP Star Trek Discovery. I know you haven't been cancelled, but you suck and you should be cancelled.

RIP Star Wars Rebels. Winding down the last season and you've been a blessing. Thank you for staying the course.

Bummer about Star Trek. Is it really that awful?

And House of Cards, well... I'm generally upset because it affects so many colleagues of mine that are still with the show. I've never personally met Kevin, but I've heard the rumors for years and years (about his forwardness towards younger males - albeit never about anyone underage). This honestly could have happened during any of the three years I was with the House of Cards post production team, and, financially, it probably would have completely fucked me, so here's hoping it hasn't set anyone else, besides Kevin Spacey, off course or into a tough spot with $$$.

Curious where they take it from here. My guess is that they shut down production long enough to write a few scripts and ease into a Robin Wright centric plot, at least until the end. OR they just kill the show entirely, which is probably what they're exploring options for right now, legally.

I've started watching Stranger Things 2, and am excited to see where it goes. Glad to see, after one episode, that the mood is consistent with season one, if not a bit better.

Really weird that they'd halt production like this. Curious to see how it will effect the show.

Yes. It's a generic Star Trek reboot with horrific writing and wooden characters and actors that know they're on a bad TV show and behave accordingly. At 8mil per episode, I would expect better. At the very least, I would expect some kind of continuity with the original shows. Sadly, there is none.

Indeed. Does anyone even watch it any more? After Fincher left it in the dust after season two, I'm not so sure.

We're not allowed conflict, Gene Roddenberry said so!

I watch it. I think the last season was a step up from the previous few but I mainly watch to see where it will go, I've never been inclined to rewatch any of it.

Didn't you watch that already? Or am I confusing that with every other NBC comedy series ever?
