TV: What are you currently watching?

I've really enjoyed Max Landis' Dirk Gently series on BBC America (and Netflix, non-america) as a massive Douglas Adam's fan I was naturally sceptical of an Americanised series especially after the BBC version from a few years back (aka stick in a pre-established double act and hope for the best).

It's not very close to the books, but that is kind of what makes it work. It does, however, get the tone right.

I'd still love to see the original novel adapted to a feature.

If Max Landis didn't irritate the piss out of me, maybe I'd give it a shot.

I hear a lot of people say this and write scripts about him that they submit to the blacklist but am out of the loop as to why.

I dunno... He hit on a now-ex girlfriend of mine at one point and I just don't like him unreasonably because of that (even though he didn't/doesn't know I existed). lol. That's reason enough for me.

Richard Hatch hit on my girlfriend once. Actually, I think Richard Hatch hits on everyone's girlfriend, so I didn't feel quite so bad.

The OA... There were some aspects I liked about it, but they were mostly overshadowed by the WTF? Super slow burn all of the way through. Tried way too hard to make everything mysterious without making any effort to get me to care about what the answers to said mysteries were, which led to further disappointment when all was said and done. If it were a person I'd describe it as "Pretty, but dumb and trying way too hard to convince everyone otherwise."

We watched Sherlock series 4 in a binge watch like the cool kids.

It's alright, better than the clusterfunk that was series 3.

You MUST be joking. Two of the three episodes, the first and the third, were terrible. The third episode, which from what I understand is the series finale, is the absolute worst episode of the entire show. You are literally the first person I've known that claims to have liked this season.

RIP Sherlock. This show died in agony.

It was alright, better than the crap about watsons wife being a surprise assassin last series.

not exactly a high bar.

what most people forget is the show was never really much better than this and occasionally had stand out momens.

I dunno give someone a tick on twitter and they think they're Mr big my tv opinions matter :P

Travelers (Netflix): Aside from the over use of depth of field and wide angle shots just for the sake of having them, it's a cool take on the whole time travel thing. Story's good, acting's good, pace is good. Nothing that's going to blow your mind but worth a watch.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix): Ugh...I really wanted this to be good, it's not. Only made it to Ep.3 and can't seem to force myself to watch it.

This season of Vikings has been lackluster but is looking up.

New season of Black Sails starts January 29th. If you haven't seen this series I would recommend a good binge.

Ah, bummer. I may still watch it if only to support a director friend of mine, who was given two episodes to direct. Or maybe I'll just watch those two eps and call it a day.

Binged the entire first season of THE CROWN last week. Was great to watch with a Brit, because she filled in all the blanks that my little american mind didn't understand. lol. Highly suggest it, even if the scripts got a little weak towards the latter half of the season.

Give it a shot, I seem to be in the minority on this. The rest of my family is enjoying it just fine and it does have its merits, it just hasn't lived up to my expectations. Probably just me.

Makes me want to move to Los Angeles and celebrate my youth with a bunch of roommates!
