TV: What are you currently watching?

The heart of 2k. Back again, since 1999... give or take a few restarts.

CBS, I believe. I feel like I'm hyping this up now, which is probably the wrong mindset to go in with.

This is my guilty pleasure show. I know it's bad, but I love to watch it.

I'm also surprised it got picked back up, I had heard it was cancelled...

Haha, well I'm glad someone else watches it, because they need all the viewership they can get to pay for those VFX. It's not THAAAT bad. I mean, it's bad, but not, well... okay, no, you're right, we should be ashamed of ourselves.

It gets much better. Really impressed with the creature fx and VFX.

Really? I don't remember specifically - but I don't remember anything being too terrible. Overall, I thought the season's VFX were better than Game of Thrones', honestly.

Enjoying the second season of "Marco Polo" on Netflix. This show is criminally ignored. It is actually quite amazing.

I was super excited for the first season, but reviews ruined it for me. "Boring" is the picture that's been painted for me.

THIS show. I'm two episodes deep at the moment - they've NAILED the look and spirit of the 80's perfectly so far. Looking forward to seeing where it goes, and if it holds up.

My relatives who I house-sit for are away for a few weeks so I get to use their Netflix setup.

I am really looking forward to "BoJack Horseman" which returns soon. Looks like I gotta add "Stranger Things" to my lineup, huh. I gave "Lady Dynamite" a try, I might give it another.

I'm enjoying catching up on "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt", but… y'know, the dialogue sparkles and the actors are wonderful, but I don't believe the characters at all. Everyone is so over-the-top and cartoonish that I don't feel for them or become interested in them as characters, any more than I am concerned about if the guy in the Monty Python skit gets a refund back for his dead parrot; I'm very aware that I'm watching talented performers reciting a room full of writers' best lines. There's nothing inherently wrong with what they're doing, it's a style choice and they do a fantastic job with what they do — I think I just prefer something more grounded / relatable even if it would come at the expense of some of those funny lines. (And that's saying something considering some of the absurd and outsized shows and characters I enjoy.)

What decade are you stuck in? We'll send help - just let us know exactly where you are.

Stranger Things was fucking amazing. Watch this. Do it.

Do it.

I felt like a kid again. I related even more to this because I was the same age these kids were in 1983, doing the same kinds of things (bike riding, D&D, etc) and almost in the same kind of place (small town USA, except the show was set in Indiana and I was in Ohio.) It really brought back some fun vibes for me. They did a good job capturing the feel.

I'm five eps deep now. Stalled out because of work. It's curiously amazing how well they MADE it... although the story is something that's just "okay", in my opinion. It's not exactly creating something new, but it's fantastically bringing us all back to our youth, so it kinda makes it seem that much better than it possibly might be.

Never mind. I was wrong. It's goddamn genius.

We just finished it, what a great series, I kinda hope they just leave it there. Unless they think of something better!

I've been wondering about that. Seemed like such a neat and tidy one-off. I'm hoping they just spin off and hit up other storylines.
