Toy Story 3

Postby sovknight » Fri Jun 18, 2010 6:02 pm

What can I say, Pixar is the best. There is no one better. Not Dreamworks, not er... anyone else... Pixar rules.

Probably the best movie of the summer thus far, and probably the best Toy Story movie. They saved the best for last. Seriously, the last 10 or so minutes is bound to make your ass cry.

Good way to wrap this all up, and a fitting end to the trilogy.

I feel like Pixar owes "Brave little toaster" a lot of money..even if it is Disney.

The worst of the trilogy, but still highly entertaining, particularly in the second half. Refreshingly dark and existentialist for a kids' film.

Best of the trilogy, second or third best ever. Your brain needs more wrinkles.

EDIT: Although your review is solid. This just rocketed way past Toy Story 1 and 2 for me, because while I grew up with 1 and liked 2, neither one of them gripped me like the fucking Hurt Locker, and this one did that in spades.

I hope it's good. I think they really got it spot on with the first film. The sequel was decent enough to get a fantastic trilogy out of it.

I thought it was going to end in tragedy. They really had me on that one. Holy hell.

And may I say... that opening scene was the SHIT.

It's like they reached inside me and pressed the "Cry" button.

I will admit to almost tearing up at the ending. It was really the most perfect way they could have ended it.

Now, are you talking about the actual ending or the "almost" ending. Cuz that's what had my eyes watering up.

I, uh...still have never seen Toy Story 2. I think it's the only Pixar film I haven't seen. I dunno how it's slipped past me for this long. I 1 & 2 arriving next on netflix so I can watch them and then go see 3.

Finally saw it last night.

Really enjoyed it!

Couple of downers. Must have been one of Tim Allens easiest jobs. Felt like he was barely in it (and not just because of the Spanish bits)

Also felt the story didn't feel big enough for some reason..? Probably because most of it took place in the same building. Also pretty tired of the "We have to get back home!" storyline.

Those things aside, loved it. Pixar at the moment feel like Disney in their modern peak. Also not laughed out loud like that in the cinema for a looong long time, and animation outside of Adult Swim rarely makes me do so.

I will say this though, Andy is a little pussy taking his little cowboy doll to college.

Chicks love that shit. My girlfriend at the time gave me a little Spider-Man doll she won at a fair or something, I kept it on my nightstand. Oh, the comments I got.

"What's with the Spidey?"
"Oh, my ex gave that to me. I keep forgetting it's there, I should prolly just throw it out."
"Awww, don't do that. It's cute."

He had the right idea.

Have you gotten laid after one of those conversations? If not, I say get rid of it. "awww it's cute!" could be a nice way of saying "aww...that's creepy."

Maybe if you said your mom/little sister/niece gave it to you...that wouldn't be creepy and chicks would love that. And you might get something out of it.

But if it's working for you, I guess go with it. I just can't imagine a girl liking that you've kept some little gift from your EX displayed next to your bed...
