Tossed out my script and am starting another. Still will be able to do something... I just don't know what yet.

..Ryan wieber also expressed interest in joining late. Any problems with that?

Due to the fun and excitement of location troubles, my shoot has to be postponed to a date we haven't quite figured out yet. HOORAY!

We had a lovely day for it! Heat not too terrible after the first couple of hours. We wrapped early and there was an ice cream truck waiting for us at the end of the bridge.

I didn't want to make this look like a typical Adam movie, and it doesn't. Rico made some great suggestions on how to make my scenes flow a little less rigidly, and we have some lovely magic-hourish light. My experiment to cast a real-life couple paid off; they were able to use their instincts to just be a couple together and exist in the moment, which Rico could catch.

The whole damn thing will have to be color-corrected for consistency, and maybe to lean less yellow and more orange/red (maybe) — but that will be the fun part.

I am posting pics, no Photoshopping beyond Web compression.

I'm really looking forward to cutting this — it's a narrative film done in a very documentarylike fashion and I will be able to use both parts of my editing skill set, such as it is.

Update: I have a nice solid edit to tide me over until Saturday, which is when I shall record the narration.

Last night I researched festivals I might want to send this to. (I might consider submitting to Sundance*, just for the hell of it. I would totally be willing to throw away $35 as a vote of confidence in my film.) I don't wish to go overboard on fest submissions, as this is a very simple movie, but it's going to come out awfully short, and fests like that.

I am also pleased to say that this will be without a doubt the best-lookin' movie I ever made. I realize it doesn't have THAT much competition, but!

Recorded the VO last night. Now I just need to bring this thing in.

Just for fun here is another screengrab. Look over the girl's shoulder, I think Fig is making a little cameo! :O

Hey Chad, before I forget --

So what are you looking for from us for delivery? It says a QuickTime at 100% of source size — is NP2K going to be hosting those files (presumably in a more compressed manner)? I mean, my film's real short but 1920x1080 is a spicy meatball.

Or am I being too literal with the requirements here?

I wouldn't mind having native 100% size HD H264 compressions. We're in the future now, I think our modems can handle it.

Hm. Well, I recently signed up for Dropbox on a whim, and it occurs to me that that might work as a filehost. I did a test export of my flick and it came out at 115 MB, so I can probably jack the quality up more and rock it at 200 MB and that won't be _too_ obnoxious, I hope.

And if anyone complains about the download time I'll tell them you made me do it

Sweet. Might have to watch that shit on my iPad, though, since my normal computer is light in the loafers about playing HD H264's.

Sigh. All right, I'm officially throwing in the towel. I've got to drop out.

Honestly, I should've dropped out a month ago. In late June I unexpectedly got on a feature that shot twelve-hour days and six-day weeks with all night shoots. I never, ever work entire features and I hadn't been busy for months when the contest started so I figured I would have more than enough time. Apparently not.

I still want to shoot my film and I'm going to try to get it done as soon as possible. My job actually ends in the next few days so hopefully I can recharge my batteries and go right into it.

Good luck to everyone else!
